AI should work for every business.

My parents worked so their children would have opportunities they hadn’t had themselves. I grew up on our family’s chicken farm on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. They believed education could give us a chance, even when they couldn’t help us navigate it. A guidance counselor helped me apply for a Gates Millennium Scholarship that paid for college. That support changed what was possible for me.

I also watched my father and uncles put their savings into taxi medallions in New York City. They drove all day and made what seemed like a responsible investment. Then ride-sharing arrived, and those medallions lost much of their value.

When I began working in machine learning, I kept thinking about my family. Technology had opened opportunities for me that I couldn’t have imagined growing up. It had also cost people I loved years of savings.

I wanted more people to understand what was happening and have a chance to benefit. For years, I worked on A.I. For Anyone alongside my full-time jobs without taking any pay.

AI Ready carries that commitment into businesses and the people who run them. I feel strongly that the opportunity to benefit from AI should extend to people outside the technology industry.

When we work with a team, our responsibility includes teaching them how to use what we put in place. They should understand the work, be able to check the results, and have the confidence to keep improving without relying on us for every next step.
