🔎 OpenAI Pauses 'Browse With Bing'
OpenAI has halted the Browse with Bing beta feature after users found a way to use the service to bypass paywalls.
People really always find a way 😂
The integration used ChatGPT to assist users in getting the information they needed, as the chatbot’s training data only extends up to 2021.
Overall: We love free stuff. But OpenAI faces a lot of liability if their product can regularly truck through paywalls as if it were a hologram.
The obvious solution is to do what OpenAI did - stop the service immediately and work on fixing the problem.
But what if - and hear me out - media companies use this as a way to license their paywalled content for ChatGPT+ users?
@sama, I’m open to any strategy roles you have available.

Ever thought of deciphering an ancient language?
Scientists have spent absolutely ages trying to figure out ancient languages, with some remaining a mystery for over 100 years.
If only there was a way to make this process faster.
Well, a multidisciplinary team of archaeologists and computer scientists has developed AI that can translate Akkadian cuneiform, one of the earliest known forms of Ancient Mesopotamic writing.
Akkadian tablets are well-attested in the historic record, but only a few hundred experts are qualified to perform their translation, making the process time-intensive.
Why? Translating an ancient language requires the translator to understand how both languages string thoughts together and use that knowledge to create a translation that maintains the linguistic nuances of the original.
Currently, this AI model works best when it is translating short to medium-length sentences and does better with more formulaic genres.
Overall: Human history is full of un-decipherable secrets that could explain the way early civilizations lived and behaved.
Is AI the key that opens this pandora’s box?
You can find the project here.

🧑💻 No more programmers?
It’s been just over 8 months since ChatGPT went viral, but with all the talk about how it will impact jobs, nothing of significance has happened.
Yet, Stability AI CEO, Emad Mostaque, made some bold statements in a recent interview:
AI will replace human programmers within the next five years.
ChatGPT will not require an internet connection to run by the end of next year.
Thoughts: Even considering how fast AI has progressed, these seem like *interesting* predictions.
Overall: Mostaque stated that AI is rapidly growing, but his company’s focus remains unwavering: to democratize AI so that it can benefit everyone.
Do you think his predictions will come true? |
