🧑💻 Bard continues to evolve
Bard is facing a ton of competition in the chatbot space.
Hence, it’s only fitting that Google announced more Bard updates - because with great competition comes great product innovation.
Or something like that.
Here’s some rapid-fire tea:
Bard now supports 40 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, and Spanish
As of today, Bard is available in Brazil and Europe
You can now customize Bard’s responses, making them simpler, longer, shorter, more professional, or more casual
^Customization is only available in English
Google also announced the ability to pin, edit, revisit previous chats, and export them via shareable links.
Last but certainly not least - the company mentioned its commitment to its AI principles but did not provide further details, as per usual. 😏
Overall: Since announcing Bard at Google I/O in May, Google has continued to iterate heavily on V1. And from a birds-eye view, ChatGPT, Claude, and Bard are pretty much neck and next in the race for the best ChatBot.

🫥 Stable Doodle
Calling everyone who “professionally” doodles on the back of their notebook while they’re on hold with Spirit Airlines customer support:
Stability AI has released Stable Doodle, a service that uses AI to turn sketches into visuals.
Here are the deets:
Using a doodle and a quick description, the system spits out an AI-generated image.
How? Combining the power of Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion XL with the powerful T2I-Adapter (a condition control solution) allows for precise control over AI image generation.
Why is this important? This tool comes at an excellent time for Stability AI, which has been rapidly burning through cash and has hit a speed bump with its commercial revenues.
A viral tool = more publicity = better brand recognition = more money (occasionally)
Although Stable Doodle is currently free, we don’t expect it to be for much longer.

💼 Meta set to release open-source AI model for enterprise
The biggest question in AI today is, “Should projects be open-sourced or closed-sourced?”
Ok, maybe the biggest question is, “Will AI end us all,” but for the sake of the article, let’s go with this one :)
Meta, who previously allowed researchers and academics to access its language model LLaMA, is preparing to release a new commercial version that companies can customize.
This is a BIG move. Why?
Because it can catapult Meta to the level of OpenAI and Google.
And because businesses can build tailored software with the new model, which can help Meta’s model learn faster than other closed-source models.
Meta’s Chief AI scientist Yann LeCun is confident that AI's competitive landscape will completely change as open-source platforms become as good as closed-source ones.
But to be clear: the argument between open vs closed-source code is important, and is extensively debated because both have their pros and cons.
Only time will tell which one will come out on top.
