AI voice replicas have kicked it up a notch (check out our Post of the Day 👀 )
To protect the public interest, lawmakers in the U.S. have introduced the “No Fakes” Act, a bipartisan bill that aims to safeguard actors, singers, and artists from the unauthorized use of AI-generated clones of their voices.
Senators Chris Coons (D-Del), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) are leading the charge, aiming to ensure that individuals cannot produce or distribute AI-generated replicas without the subject's consent.
The urgency behind this legislation is evident:
Not too long ago, an anonymous artist used AI to recreate the voices of Drake and The Weeknd for a song, raising serious ethical and legal concerns.
The SAG-AFTRA also went on strike due to concerns about studios using AI-generated replicas of background actors without their consent or compensation.
Overall: Generative AI's rapid adoption has lawmakers grappling with complex issues related to intellectual property, copyright, privacy rights, labor laws, and defamation.
The 'No Fakes' Act is designed to hold those responsible for unauthorized replication accountable, with suitable provisions for damage liability.

🔋 AI & Aionics: A Battery Love Story
Batteries hold incredible potential to revolutionize our world by providing sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
But with an astonishing ten billion possible molecule combinations, finding the right mix for faster-charging energy-dense batteries can become tedious.
The solution? Aionics, a startup that uses AI to accelerate battery discovery.
Aionics focuses on the critical electrolyte component of lithium-ion batteries and leverages AI-accelerated quantum mechanics to evaluate a staggering 10,000 candidates every second, learning and improving with each iteration.
By designing new molecules for specific applications, Aionics harnesses the power of generative AI to take battery development to the next level. Aionics even enlisted LLMs like GPT-4 to help scientists sift through millions of possible formulations.
Overall: With a data-driven approach and AI-driven insights, Aionics is hoping to uncover breakthroughs in battery technology.
The startup is also working with several other companies, including Porsche's battery manufacturing subsidiary Cellforce and Chement, to explore new applications beyond batteries.

💁 Gen Z's AI Coach
In a recent survey by Resume Builder, over 1,300 US managers identified Gen Z as the "most challenging generation" to work with.
The cited reason? A lack of technological skills.
The real reason? Gen Z is giving managers a hard time with email etiquette and professional communication. Oof.
If you are in Gen Z and fall into this bucket, fear not. Starting next month, Microsoft Outlook users will have access to Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI tool designed to craft polished and professional emails.
Overall: Companies like KPMG, Visa, General Motors, and Lumen Technologies are already testing Copilot to boost their team's productivity. Cherie Gartner, KPMG's global lead partner for Microsoft, reports promising results, but it's early days to confirm its impact on younger hires.
