Still, Google and NVIDIA shared some exciting news in the past 24 hours.

Google finally ships!

This morning, Google launched its Bard artificial intelligence chatbot to the public.

Google is months behind some competitors in rolling out its first version of its chatbot, which caused some employee frustration. They’re now scrambling to secure their dominance over the internet.

Bard is not intended to replace search but to complement it, and generative AI tools will be included in workplace products like Docs and Sheets in the coming weeks.

💾 Nvidia introduces new chips for AI

Nvidia introduced new chips, supercomputing services, and partnerships to showcase their technology for future AI breakthroughs.

These chips will be used for consumer and enterprise applications like advanced chatbots and graphics generators.

Tech giants are building cloud infrastructures with Nvidia's H100 GPUs, and Nvidia is offering a DGX cloud service hosted by Oracle, with other tech companies following suit.

Nvidia also announced two new chips, one focused on enhancing AI video performance and the other an upgrade to the H100, designed to improve the deployment of large language models. The H100 NVL can perform 12 times faster than the prior generation of A100s at scale in data centers.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman warns that other A.I. developers working on ChatGPT-like tools won’t put on safety limits—and the clock is ticking - OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has warned that other companies developing A.I.-based tools such as ChatGPT and GPT-4 may not put safety limits like OpenAI does, and society needs to act quickly to regulate them before it is too late. He is particularly worried about the potential for malicious uses of these tools, such as for large-scale disinformation, offensive cyberattacks and phone scammers using voice-cloning A.I. tools. OpenAI is taking various measures to try to ensure the safe use of its A.I. tools, but Altman is warning of the need for society to act quickly to regulate A.I. before it is too late. (Read more)

So, you think GPT-4 can't make a complex game... think again! - Using GPT-4, Replit, MidJourney, and Claude, Ammaar Reshi was able to create a 3D space runner game from scratch with no knowledge of Javascript or game programming. After seeing similar projects, Ammaar wanted to see if GPT-4 could make a full 3D game, and it was able to describe a forgotten childhood game successfully. Ammaar considered it challenging to see if they could bring the game back to life based on their understanding and the GPT-4's description. (Read more)

OpenAI releases GPT-4, a multimodal AI that it claims is state-of-the-art - OpenAI has released GPT-4, a powerful new AI model capable of understanding images and text. It is available to OpenAI's paying users, and developers can sign up to access the API. It is being used by Microsoft, Stripe, Duolingo, Morgan Stanley, and Khan Academy for various tasks. GPT-4 is more reliable, creative, and able to handle more nuanced instructions than its predecessor GPT-3.5. It can also caption and interpret images and includes a new API capability called system messages which allows developers to set the tone and boundaries for the AI's interactions. However, GPT-4 is still far from perfect, as it can sometimes make simple reasoning errors. OpenAI is confident in its improvements to GPT-4 and hopes it can become a valuable tool for improving people's lives. (Read more)
