☁️ Microsoft Introduces Azure ChatGPT
A chatbot safe for enterprise use might finally be here with Azure ChatGPT, an open-source version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Azure ChatGPT is hosted on a company’s private network with access to the Azure cloud.
Microsoft boasts three big benefits with Azure ChatGPT:
Privacy: Your business data is protected by privacy guarantees and kept separate from OpenAI’s network.
Controlled: Network traffic can be fully isolated to just your network.
Value: Businesses can use their own data sources or use plugins to “integrate with internal services.”
Overall: Azure ChatGPT seems to solve the big issue businesses had with the OG ChatGPT - privacy.
By addressing the issue head-on, MS has created a product that businesses can use without fear. In this current AI world, that’s a pretty big luxury.
Smart move by Microsoft. Not sure how OpenAI feels about this, though…

🛒 Amazon's AI-Generated Review Summaries

Amazon is making shopping easier with new AI-powered product review summaries. Just a click, and you'll get the highlights of hundreds of reviews in one handy paragraph.
How does it work? These blurbs boil down the likes and dislikes from reams of reviews into an easily digestible bite, telling you what most people love or hate about a product. Amazon also ensures that the reviews shown are from “verified purchases,” so you only get a first-person POV.
Here's the catch: the summaries focus on positives more than negatives, likely because Amazon regularly spotlights highly-rated stuff on their pages.
It does make you wonder if you're getting the whole truth.
Overall: Amazon is not the only company to implement this feature. Newegg launched a similar review summary feature, and Microsoft added AI summaries to the Microsoft Store.
If AI helps cut through review overload to make smart shopping easier for customers, that could be an important feature for e-commerce stores.

Together with leaders from Google and Twitter X, Stanford is prepping politicians for the AI revolution with a crash course boot camp.
Sessions covered benevolent and sinister AI uses, from transforming healthcare to weaponizing deepfakes.
The session's goal was not to tell attendees how to legislate but to arm them with information that would help them make informed decisions.
Why is this important: With bots like ChatGPT becoming mainstream, regulators are hustling to get up to speed.
And considering the White House and Congress are trying to craft guardrails around AI, sessions like these could be crucial in helping them learn more about the technology.
Overall: These events allow the Government to interact directly with experts and academics to understand how the technology is progressing and what can be done to protect the general public.
Since ChatGPT came out, several efforts have been made to help Congress understand the full scope of this technology. And as the White House prepares an executive order to help write laws around AI, an “all hands on deck” effort will be needed to write new rules for AI.
These boot camps can only help that initiative.
